When is the best time to send HTML emails?
You’ve drafted the copy, laid out the design and uploaded your lists. Now all you have to do is schedule the best time for your email to go out. Simple, right? Not necessarily. To schedule at the optimal time, first you need to determine what that time is.
Picking the best time to send out your email can mean a lot of trial and error. Statistically speaking, weekdays are better than weekends, with Tuesday having the highest open rate, 19.9 percent, and Friday having the highest click through rate (CTR), 4.9 percent.
Now that you have an idea of what day to send, how do you decide what time? You want to pick one when customers are most likely to be checking their inboxes, like the morning or the early afternoon.
And just because nearly 40 percent of all messages are being sent out between 6 a.m. and noon, doesn’t mean it’s the best time to hit send. With only 25.8 percent of messaging being sent between noon and 6 p.m. and 29.6 percent between 6 p.m. and midnight, customers’ inboxes are likely to be less cluttered.
Ultimately, it boils down to understanding your audience. Each industry has unique wants and needs that can affect the best possible time to send emails. And remember, in order to find the best time, you’ve got to test, analyze and make changes because there isn’t just one time that works for everyone.
