How important is your envelope?
In the midst of nailing down event details and completing any necessary collateral, did you stop to think about in what envelope to seal that invitation or save the date? Mopdog knows that envelopes matter. For invitees, they are a first glimpse into an event. When it comes to choosing an envelope there are many things to consider.
Are you handwriting the addresses? If your piece is going into a dark envelope, it will affect what type of pen you write with. We prefer to use metallic ink when handwriting addresses on dark envelopes.
Are you using mailing labels? Freshly designed mailing labels can be the icing on the cake (or the sticker on the envelope) when producing a cohesive product. Envelope size will matter based on the size of the mailing labels. You don’t want to use an oversized, or undersized, label on your envelope.
What does the back flap look like? Envelopes offer many options when it comes to back flaps: euro flap, wallet, square, pointed and commercial. They can even incorporate snaps and string ties to close the envelope. Keep in mind, choosing an envelope with a snap or seal may affect printing options and mailing postage.
What color should you choose? Color will vary based on what the overall project is trying to accomplish, but we recommend choosing a color that matches the company brand, specifically when the invitation is for a corporate event.
Did you think about postage? Square envelopes typically require additional postage when mailing, so the cost goes up. Be conscious of your overall project budget when selecting envelopes.
