Even Dr. Seuss Followed Standard Grammar Rules
March must be the best month for bookworms and grammarians. It begins with National Read Across America Day on March 2, which is also the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Today, the nerdy festivities continue with National Grammar Day. The celebration for editors and writers culminates with National Proofreading Day on March 8.
Grammarians pride themselves on saving the day by finding errors and pointing out the mistakes of others. But, as Mopdog’s senior copywriter, I wanted to share the thrill of proofreading with all of you.
In honor of my love for Dr. Seuss, below are three excerpts from “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!,” with wacky zummers and humpf-humpfs for you to fix. After you read these sneedles, look below for the corrected answers.
“Your off to great places. To day is your day! Your’ mountain is waiting. So ….. get on you’re way!”
“You’ll been on your way up! You’ll be seen great sights! You’ll join the high fliers that soar to high-heights.”
“You’ve got brains in your head. You have feat in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you chose!”
