A little personification goes a long way. And, Mopdog can provide that friendly face.

At Mopdog, our multimedia directors and expert marketing strategists know the best way to share a company’s brand identity and direct messaging to customers is through a persona. A carefully crafted cartoon mascot is an excellent way to increase visibility for any organization—especially for companies who need:

  • An unique approach.
  • To gain a better position.
  • To promote a specific service.

In “Why Do I Need Personas in My Content Marketing Strategy,” Jeff Julian, a web developer who has worked with software companies to direct content marketing efforts, states, “A persona, in marketing terms, is a person you create to represent a specific audience you would like to reach…Personas also contain the goals and values of the audience.”

Essentially, the personification of a brand is a tool designed to reach real people who are facing a real set of problems. The caricature is a way of connecting a target audience to the product or service your company provides.

Of course concepting and developing a corporate mascot takes time and money. However, once this initial stage is complete, the cartoon figure is a great resource to help with:

  • Consistency in messaging.
  • Reaching audiences across all platforms.
  • Directing a long-term marketing plan.

A Personable Persona
One of Mopdog’s long-term clients, E. Smith Heating & Air Conditioning, is a full-service commercial and residential HVAC contractor. For many years, E. Smith incorporated their mascot, E. Man, into messaging about the local company’s “50 years of service.” The problem with E. Man…he had become very outdated.

The talented designers at Mopdog retooled E. Man, with the goal of still providing a friendly, trusting face for the family-owned company, whose dedicated team of specialists come into customers’ homes to provide a complex service.

Now, E. Man is heavily utilized across all types of customer engagement pieces, especially print advertisements, e-communications and the website esmithair.com. E. Man provides both entertainment and educational opportunities, which helps customers make better purchasing decisions and creates a great return on investment for E. Smith.

A Personalized Persona
Often times, instead of a person, the best type of mascot comes from nature…specifically the animal kingdom. That was certainly the case for another Mopdog client, LifeWise Renovations®. This home remodeling company employs aging-in-place specialists who make recommendations and complete home installations focused on universal design.

Due to the complex and serious nature surrounding chronic disease and life-changing disabilities, LifeWise Renovations needed a character who could offer an inviting, appealing, and wise persona for the company, who offers hands-on, customized solutions. From this need, Homer—Our Wisest Owl was created. (Read his backstory, where Homer Learns about Love, Family and Home.)

Homer has already been used in a very strategic way to communicate with decision makers. The Mopdog team continues to craft compelling, detailed blogs, emails and print pieces that showcase Homer’s expertise. His voice is one of understanding and empathy. In an emerging field like aging-in-place design, followers appreciate thought leadership. And, this type of content marketing pays off in lead generation. Homer is not only fun and caring, but also a very recognizable and credible source, used to reach out to the health care community for referrals to LifeWise Renovations’ services.
