Biogen Idec is a global biotechnology organization that creates therapies and treatments to help patients with debilitating diseases and sicknesses. The company spans around the world with corporate headquarters located in Weston, Mass. The organization has recently released an experimental drug, BG-12 (DIMETHYL FUMARATE), to aid in the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). MS is a chronic disease that affects the central nervous system and has no known cure. The pill has the potential to become the world’s leading treatment for the disease. BG-12 has piqued investor interest propelling the company to become the fourth biggest stock gainer as of May 2012. Biogen Idec is on the path to disease treatment with a grant from the Food and Drug Administration for a 10-month review of BG-12.
