Our Web Architects Craft Dynamic Website for High-End Design Firm

Clients from every industry have been contacting Mopdog, anxious for a solution to retrofit an existing, clunky, outdated website to be optimized for mobile devices. Every company or organization needs a website that allows users to interact in a clear way.

One client really stands out for both their obvious need for a modern online presence and great portfolio images they provided to capture a complete look. Since its founding in 1991, award-winning Harrison Design has been dedicated to creating luxury, custom-designed residences and specialty commercial projects.

Harrison Design’s website, HarrisonDesign.com, was incomplete and unfinished. Mopdog was brought in to develop a new website from scratch, following the new flat design trend—using simple, bold colors and patterns based on classic design principles. Our developer pieced together galleries, with very simple content and minimal copy, leaving breathing room for the audience to experience Harrison Design.

Fill the Screen with Layers of Imagery
Flat design can still exude richness with a restrained use of personalized typography, layered imagery and “animated” transitions. “People love websites with big, full-screen displays of images, type and video—it’s simply more immersive and engaging,” states Ryan Anderson, founder of Alchemy50, in 50+ Designers Share Their Top 3 Design Trends For 2015.

Anderson talks about full-screen video being the new way to connect to visitors and communicate a brand’s personality. “This approach to web design will slowly kill the traditional brochure as a means of selling a service…We expect companies to put more of their dollars into these digital canvases,” he says.

Leading this trend, Mopdog positioned a professional photo to stretch across the screen on Harrison Design’s home page. This space rotates through a batch of luxury pictures. We also put together portfolio galleries—broken down by architecture, interior design and landscaping. The heavy-image approach was a challenge to get each picture to display correctly. Still, these fluid photo galleries adjust responsively across various mobile platforms, and our team was very conscious of image size and load time.

Harrison Design Celebrates Anniversary in Signature Style
After 25 years of international acclaim for leading the industry, Harrison Design treated themselves to a grand new look. The new website, HarrisonDesign.com echoes elements of architecture and structure, all while highlighting Harrison Design’s elegant and substantial work. The audience truly benefits from an intimate experience with the custom designs.

“Our projects are given the tribute they so richly deserve,” Founding Principal William Harrison said about adopting a new online presence. “The very modern, efficient functionality of HarrisonDesign.com better represents to clients our quality and versatility.”
