Mobility for All

In today’s day and age, your brand could be seriously suffering if it’s not well optimized for mobile devices.

Almost everyone has a smartphone of some sorts, and the number of people who own tablets is going up every day. In addition, changes in technology have changed our expectations so that we expect everything faster than ever before. According to the Huffington Post, 57% of mobile users will leave a website if it takes longer than three seconds to load. There are dozens of reasons why it’s important to have a well-optimized mobile site, and here are just a few of them:

1) Mobile Users Behave Differently. Whereas many internet users meander around webpages when they’re on a desktop, mobile users behave the exact opposite. Studies show that mobile users are more iphonelikely to briefly view mobile sites and only stay on them if there’s enough visual content to keep them interested. The mobile is looking for snack-sized information, not meals.

2) Mobile Landing Pages Require Different Strategies. Whereas desktop landing pages can get away with grand, massive designs and long lines of text, mobile sites require different formatting. What you’ll need for a successful mobile site include…
– A minimalist design
–  Headlines that are five words or less
– Bright “call to action” buttons
– Super fast page-load speed

3) Better Brand Engagement. Have you ever had that mobile experience where the site is riddled with ads that either cover the page or shift suddenly to make you accidentally click on them? What about when you click on a site that automatically redirects you to some other app? Those experiences are so frustrating, that when you encounter a well optimized mobile site that doesn’t do any of those things, you’re more likely to think favorably of that brand.

4) Google Loves Good Mobile Sites. If you have a website with a functioning and well optimized mobile site, Google is more likely to rank your website higher in search results. Google laid out a detailed explanation of what they consider “mobile friendly,” which you can find here. In addition, you can run your website through a special Google test to find out if your site is mobile friendly.
