Preparations for this year’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament are already underway here at Mopdog. Everyone is starting to submit brackets to enter himself/herself into our office-wide contest—for a chance to win some really cool prizes!

While I tend to pick “winning” teams based on my favorite colors, last year I bet on teams that an automated system said were statistically the best. With so many Cinderella stories in 2014, that was a big mistake. This year I decided to pursue a better strategy. So, I enlisted some insight from the rest of the dog pack on how they were making selections.

Tonni — “What sport is March Madness for again?”

Rick — “I know nothing about basketball. Come talk to me when football season rolls around.”

Hannah — “I’ve got three letters for you: SEC. I’m also into the whole ‘brand loyalty’ thing. I think UNC has a chance to win it all this year.”

Rachel — “First, I make most predications on sheer brand loyalty. I always pick Indiana University when I can. After all, we have won many national titles. After that, I select teams who traditionally play well in the tourney, not just the regular season. This year, I pick Wisconsin to bring it home for the Big Ten.”

Adam (last year’s contest winner) — “I pick my teams by who has the coolest mascot…I’ll never reveal my (real) strategy!”
