Cobb Youth Leadership Fall Retreat 2013
“No one got hurt and nothing got broke, so it was a good weekend,” said our Topdog (aka Bill Musial) when asked about his trip to WinShape Camp in Berry with Cobb Youth Leadership.
A couple of weeks ago, 55 high school juniors, 10 high school seniors and 8 adults squeezed into the Mopdog parking lot to board their bus up to Berry for a weekend filled with leadership, team building, self-reflection activities and rain.
But the weekend downpour didn’t stop the events. One of Bill’s most memorable moments was a personality activity where the teens took the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, a personality test outlining type and career choices. Why was this so memorable you ask? Well that’s because the facilitator predicted exactly what each group of kids would do when they entered the room..
As anticipated, group one came in sat down, adjusted misaligned chairs and discussed the environment, no questions asked. Group two came in, sat down and when asked to, “Discuss the environment within three minutes,” immediately questioned what topics to discuss, seeking direction.
The weekend was complete with our final presentation by Garrett Gravesen and Kevin Scott from the ADDO Institute. Their perspectives on leadership made the Cobb Youth Leadership Fall Retreat a complete success!
