March is recognized as National Caffeine Awareness Month, a time dedicated to helping people make informed decisions about how much caffeine they’re consuming daily. In America, 83% of adults consume coffee and average three cups a day, equaling around 587 million cups nationwide. At the Doghouse, this is no exception! We decided to poll our staff to investigate how much caffeine is consumed and how our preferences differ between breeds.
Six out of ten members of our staff swear by it, but Sarah, Martin, Ben and Michele won’t be found at the coffeepot. While Sarah doesn’t enjoy the taste (but loves the smell), Martin gave up caffeine over ten years ago and Michele quit drinking coffee for her health.
Overall, the majority of the pack enjoys 1-2 cups of coffee per day. Our winner is understandably our Topdog, who averages 3-5 cups and is a self-proclaimed “addict”. The Mopdog staff clings to their mugs to stay awake and receive a jolt of energy when they need it, but Pauline, Adam and Cheryl love the taste as well.
The pack typically drinks coffee as part of their morning routines and Pauline intentionally uses it to power through the workweek. While coffee provides a great boost of energy, it can also be appreciated at a slower pace. Tricia loves to drink a cup when she’s having a lazy morning on the weekend and Cheryl will occasionally have a cup after dinner.
Home isn’t just where the heart is, but where the coffee is, too! Most of our staff enjoys making coffee comfortably in their own kitchens. Bill loves his coffee from Aroma Ridge, but when away, the pack prefers Starbucks overall. Cheryl takes her coffee black, but most of the office needs cream to satisfy their cravings. Pauline and Chelsea love flavored creamers, while Tricia keeps almond milk handy in her fridge!
