Last weekend our Topdog, Bill, stayed busy climbing trees, walking silently across logs and getting to know the future leaders among Cobb County’s Cobb Youth Leadership (CYL). CYL is a program for high school juniors that aims to develop leadership skills through programs, events and other interactions.
Nestled in Floyd County, Georgia, near Rome, on 26,000 acres sits Berry College, the largest campus in the country. A bus full of tomorrow’s youth and Bill, Co-Chair, headed to the woodsy campus for a fun and challenging weekend. The CYL Fall Retreat took place at Camp WinShape, a place to build leaders, funded by Chick-fil-A.
Throughout the weekend CYL had the opportunity to learn leadership through some interesting activities. Groups were told to stand on a long silently and have one person lead them to line up by birthday, and this was just the beginning! The youth also had the opportunity to listen to inspirational speakers from the ADDO Institute, a highlight for Bill.
