Timing Is Everything – When to blog, post and send your messaging
Various content strategy websites, and most inboxes of marketing professionals, are filled with guides advising companies on the character limits for social media posts, formulas for crafting the best blog headlines and tips for the best call to action in emailed newsletters. But implementing all of this advice will only fall on deaf ears if you do not understand when your audience is listening.
The worst timing for social media posts is late at night or in the early morning, essentially from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Although LinkedIn, which has become a resource for more than 3 million businesses, falls outside the normal parameters of other social media applications. To help you know when the timing is right, follow this infographic to schedule your blog posts, social media outreach and emails sends.
Email Campaign
Beyond the time of day decision, picking the right day of the week to send a message is critical for email campaigns. Citing over 20 marketing experts, Pinpointe’s guide warns that Mondays are no good, with inboxes backed up with emails and the audience distracted by getting back into the swing of the workweek. Pinpointe also advises businesses to stay away from sending email messaging on Fridays, since the audience is already thinking about the weekend and winding down from work mode as the clock runs out.
The best days are Saturdays and Sundays, which see the smallest amount of email volume (meaning less competition) and the highest unique open rates. But a word of warning, “the weekend also produces the highest bounce rates and abuse reports,” Pinpointe states. For a weekday, Tuesday is the strongest with the highest open and click-through rates.
